I'm back with the second part of my retrospect of the last months. In June, I was able to return to work at the university with reduced time. It was good to be back and getting things done again, but still having some free time, being based on 5-hour-shifts in the mornings or afternoons. I kept doing my creative projects, decluttering the house, and some gaming.
I started to play Dungeons and Dragons with friends over Zoom. I've played different German pen & paper RPGs before, but never the original D&D. It was so much fun that will hopefully continue. I also got back to gaming on PC with Myst that I used to play years ago and some newly discovered point and click adventures. With nothing going on on the weekends and weeks of shitty weather,
I was also very motivated to do things in the house that I had put off for ages. It started with a clear-out of the kitchen and the bathroom, and boxes full of stuff we didn't use. It was so much better afterwards that I felt ready for the dreaded chest of drawers and desk in the living room. So I was finally able to unpack all my arts and craft materials, which got me inspired to create art again.
I used to draw and paint a lot when I was younger. In the last years, it was mostly only for garment or pattern design. One of my favourites was/is watercolour, and about a year ago, I found an excellent pan set for a reasonable price, but I hadn't used it. Together with some single artist-grade pans and tubes that I bought over the years, I have a full range of colours to work with now.
We went on holiday at the end of Juli. Being at home for a so long, but without really having time off since Christmas, it was much needed. We were camping in our car like last year, but going to a few different places and spending days at home in between. There will be another blog post with all the photographs I took just with my phone that is as good as the big camera now.
By August, I had also cleared the bedroom of all the boxes full of old clothes and fabric. There will be loads for sale soon! This gave me the space to do workouts again. After months of just sitting around and not being able to skate, it feels good to get moving again. As I mentioned in the last post, my mental health is getting better as well. I spent some time reading and journaling for that.
I still have a lot to show you from the last months. I'm aiming for a new blog post per week, but bear with me, life is still strange. What would you find most interesting, travelling, art experiments or mental health journaling?

Liebe Grüße
Janina
