The new patches are out! I know, you waited for a long time. Now, even I didn't have the chance to sew one on yet. There is a large one with a bat
skeleton, three sets of mini patches and two smaller ones. I'll tell you a bit more about my inspirations behind and how I created them in this
blog post, but if you want you can head right to the shop to check them out yourself!
Bat Skeleton
A skeleton of a bat, that's double the coolness, isn't it? I wanted to make one for so long, but
I just couldn't get the drawing right. But then I took a photo from one of my favourite all-year home decorations and edited it for screen printing. (Not a real one - no bats
were harmed while making this patch!)
Mini Patches - Punk, Antifa and Nature
Are you wondering what to do with those weird, tiny gaps between your favourite bands on your battle vest or jacket? That's why I created the mini patches! Each about 4 x 4
cm, cut them out as needed and sew them onto your vest, jacket, pants, bag, or wherever! Here are three sets for now: punk stuff, Antifa/anarcho symbols and nature motifs - more ideas to come!
I had these political patches in my mind for a while, but I didn't want them to look like the standard symbols eveonw can create in a minute. For the weathered structure, I used rough watercolour
paper and dry brush. Not every detail transferred to the print, but that's ok.
For the other two, I realised that some lines where definitely too fine to print. I think a about adjusting that and burning new
screens for them. They also have been hand drawn in their original size. It's been fun getting back to drawing and painting. Of
course the punk set includes some classics. :)
Candle, skull and bones - two small patches
These are also great for gaps in strange shapes. The candle is from a picture of the most dripping candle
I ever had, while the skull and bones are a doodles that I liked very
much. Looking for some patch sewing guidance? I made a tutorial blog
post about different methods, with and without a machine.
As all patches, these are screen printed by hand with water-based inks on sturdy cotton fabric, a black canvas made from certified
organic cotton. It's not too thin or thick and has some structure for a quality feel. Of course they are washable (30°C machine wash is
ok) because the ink is permanent and will stay white and crisp for a long time!
One last thing: I will have to increase patch prices by the first of June and adjust them to the different sizes. The fabric price
has gone up by 40% since I last bought it. That was a 30 m roll and I've used it up for patches only (or 99%) within only two
years! I don't want to compromise on quality, and it won't be very much, but to save be quick!
